Tasting Notes
I think that Captured by Porches make some of the most interesting beers in Oregon. Their newest offering, a kölsch, is pretty darn tasty. Pours a nice straw color with little to no head. Taste is dry, crisp, and a bit sweet. I don't have any experience with kölsch beers, but I thought it was really nice -- pleasant, very palatable, sessionable. A few more bubbles may have added to the aroma, but I thought it was quite good as it was. This is the first CBP bottle I've seen without a bird (or some sort of bird-hybrid) on the label. There's a strange bit of text under the bottle stats:
There once were two cats from Kilkenny...
Hmm. Mysterious! I did some cursory research, and it turns out (as you'd probably suspect) to be from an Irish limerick. Here's the rest:
There once were two cats from Kilkenny Each thought there was one cat too many So they fought and they fit And they scratched and they bit And instead of two cats, there ain't any!
Any guesses or insight about how this might relate to this kolsch? I'm stumped.
