WAR ELEPHANT. Yeah, how f-ing cool of a name is that? Pretty badass label, too. My first bottle from Columbia River, though I've tried their beers at festivals and visited their Portland brewery when it first opened. I've had mixed feelings the few times I've tried them, too; I've both proclaimed their porter to be my absolute festival favorite, as well have I walked away with a foul taste in my mouth and an opinion far, far at the other end of the spectrum. How will their first bottling measure up? To be honest, I don't know. I was in a foul mood when I drank it, and I didn't bother taking notes. I can tell you this: it was good, and I remember enjoying it, and I also recall being in a significantly better mood afterwards. 4/5.
