This first time I ever tried a Fort George beer was on tap at the now-closed Spints Alehouse on NE Glisan & 28th Avenue in Portland. I was just really getting into IPAs (or so I thought), so I ordered the Vortex. Holy fuck. I struggled to drink the whole pint. So hoppy! So bitter! Over the years it seems as though Vortex has mellowed out from what it was the first time I tried it, but this bottle of OmegaTex brought back the memories of that first-ever pint. So hoppy! So bitter! I think OmegaTex tries to balance things out with a heavier malt base, but it's still just too much for me to handle by myself. As much Vortex as I drink these days (which is to say, a lot), I still struggled finishing my pint of OmegaTex. I'm not saying it wasn't good; it was... just be prepared to split the bottle.
