You're holding the first in a series of new bottle conditioned beers from Hopworks featuring classic European beer styles through our own Northwest perspective.
Yum.
Our Abbey Ale is a rich, complex and bready weave of malty esters reminiscent of stone fruit flavors; perfect for sharing.
Pours deep red with a soft, foamy white head. Smells bready and fruity. Taste is very soft and smooth, and is as described above; complex dark fruitiness, nicely balanced with a rich, bready malt. Super-delicious. A light boozy finish which I enjoyed, but will probably mellow out over time.
To cut to the point: this beer is absolutely fantastic and ranks among the best Hopworks beers that I've tried. A++++, would (and hopefully will) drink again!

I'd forgotten until I re-read the bottle description that this was a bottle-conditioned beer. I currently have a second bottle sitting in the fridge that I'd picked up because I liked this beer so much, but I don't think it's going to stay in there much longer being that I'm pretty anxious to have this again. Looks like another trip to the beer store is in order before this thing disappears!
