Twisted Gourd is the third Oregon-brewed pumpkin beer I've gotten to try this season, and oddly enough, the taste profile seems to sit somewhere right between the Rogue Pumpkin Patch and the Laurelwood Stingy Jack.
Pours copper with little to no head. Good, solid pumpkin flavor, but even more solid nutmeg/spice flavor on both the nose and in the body. More sweetness than either the Rogue or the Laurelwood. Some hops, too, but very subtle. Clean finish with some lingering spices.
A solid pumpkin beer, but maybe some more malts and a heavier body could balance out the spices a little more? The pumpkin flavor is nice, but it seems a little over-shadowed. In any case, I enjoyed it -- a nice, festive autumn beer. Cheers!
