Praise the beer gods, Breakside is releasing bottles!
Okay, well, technically Breakside has had some occasional super-limited special releases, but this IPA (along with a pilsner I've yet to review) is their first wide release that you can pick up a bottle of outside of their brewery. Hooray!
That said, I've actually had Breakside's IPA on-tap at the brewery a handful of times, and have never found it to be anything really remarkable. Something is definitely
different this time around -- as best I can figure, it's because of one of two posibilities:
- The recipe has changed, or
- This beer should not be evaluated after drinking two pints of Aztec
I'm leaning towards the second point, but it's entirely possible that the first is relevent as well. In any case, I found
this pint of Breakside IPA to be quite good! Fruity, with a nice hop profile. Creamy, medium-heavy mouthfeel, with A bit of piney bitterness on the end.
Yum!
