Tasting Notes
Ale brewed with raspberries, blueberries & blackberries
For reference, last year's Stumptown Tart was also a triple-berry blend, but it was strawberries, raspberries, and marionberries. Here's a little bit more from BridgePort about this year's offering:
Each year, BridgePort Brewing Company chooses a different fruit to include in its limited edition beer, Stumptown Tart. With Oregon's variety of incredible produce it can be a difficult decision. This year, the brewery turned to an Oregon favorite -- blueberries. These indigo berries were blended with Oregon-grown raspberries and blackberries, creating a brew that is rich in color and in taste.

The addition of blueberries gives off a remarkable amount of flavor. That flavor, when blended with an increase in Belgian yeast, yields a nice balance of fruit and noticeable Belgian characteristics.

"The same climate that helps us grow the world's best aroma hops also helps to grow over 75 million pounds of Oregon blueberries each year," comments Brewmaster Jeff Edgerton. "For many people, the release of Stumptown Tart signals summer and we're all looking forward to opening up the patio at the brewpub to enjoy a Tart in the Portland sunshine."
Oh yeah, I look forward to it every year! This is my fourth annual tasting of Stumptown Tart (see links to other reviews below), and while the 2013 batch is indeed delicious, it doesn't quite match up to my memories of the 2010 raspberry framboise. Cheers!
