Another new (for me) brewery! This brings my total up to 45 different Oregon breweries. Nice. So... Chili Beer? Right from the get-go, there's some spice. The nose smells strongly of chili peppers with a little bit of malt. Interesting. Taste is the same -- spicy chili peppers, with a touch of sweet malts to balance out the end. Stingy! The spiciness nips pleasantly at the taste buds a bit. Wow. I've never had a beer like this before, but it's awesome. I've thought about it several times in the past few days... that doesn't happen too often. I think that Chili Beer is Calapooia's first attempt at bottling. I'm definitely looking forward to more!
