Tasting Notes
From the bottle label:
This Northwest style sour ale is a blend of Blond Quads, Triples and Blonds. Vlad is aged over 18 months in select bourbon and wine barrels.
Holy shit, that cork was a real bitch to get out. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a small white head. Smells a bit funky; woodsy. Definitely some sour brett. Taste is tart with a bit of underlying honey-like sweetness. Smooth. Complex. Dry sour finish. I have a hard time describing sours in the terms of a beer review. First and foremost they're, well... sour. Beyond that, this beer has a very complex, nuanced flavor profile. Vlad is a really amazing beer, and an exceptional example of what beers in the "sour ale" category should strive towards. Really, really good. Pick one up if you can.
