And finally, with beer #231 from a small start-up that just opened down in Redmond, I've drank a bottle of beer from
50 different Oregon breweries! Feels good, man.
Here's what the brewery thinks their IPA tastes like according to their
website:
At 7% ABV and 64 IBU’s the late hop additions contribute floral and pine aroma’s that make this Matt’s personal favorite. The hop profile is not overpowering, starting crisp and fresh and building to a mellow, bitter finish. A generous dry hop emphasizes a green hop accent with an enjoyable aroma.
My take? Fruity! This beer uses super fruity hops and sweet malts, which translates to a sweet, full taste. Very well balanced, especially from (at least from what I can tell) a newcomer to the brewing industry. My only complaint was I could've used a little bit more bitterness after 22oz of sweet fruitiness -- I found it to be a little cloying after a while. That said, this was a surprisingly pleasant IPA; the flavor profile was good, and even better, it was different enough from the very-bitter and very-hoppy "Northwest IPA" style that it stands apart from the crowd as a
unique IPA offering. Cheers to that!
