Formerly Mactarnahan's, now re-branded as "Portland Brewing". This IPA is supposed to be a brand-new recipe, though, I think. Here's the brewery description:
With a darker golden color and some of the most popular citrusy IPA hops as well as Sterling for a bit of spiciness in the finish, our IPA is hoppy like a Northwest IPA should be. Five different hops and a soft malt backing make for one great, easy-drinking ale.
Pours with a thick foamy head -- a good sign. Smells fruity and piney. Taste is very hop-forward, if not mild. This beer is difficult to review, actually -- it's a pretty good example of the "Northwest IPA" style, and I'd be happy to drink it anywhere outside of the Northwest. But with so much other competition within Oregon and the greater Northwest, this beer ends up seeming somewhat mild and unremarkable. Then again, a bomber of this completely decent IPA can be had at a third of the price of other similar brews in town...
