I should know better than to hang onto a fresh hop beer for so long, but surprisingly, Chasin' Freshies actually managed to still taste "fresh", even after hanging out in the back of my refrigerator several months past the height of "fresh hop" season.
That said, I didn't enjoy this years' fresh hop IPA quite as much as I loved last year's fresh hop pale from Deschutes. Chasin' Freshies tasted a little milder than I expected from a fresh hop ale, which was extra surprising being that it's an IPA instead of a regular old pale ale. Oddly clear pour, light floral citrus flavors, quite crisp and smooth, but overall not as crazy-awesome as I'd hoped it to be. Good still, but a bit more on the "average" side than I expected from Deschutes.
You're not doing it justice! You have to try a "fresh hop" ale when it's ....fresh! :) Also, I think the 2014 version is much better than the one you tried (2013). For 2014, they used Mosaic hops and it's one of the best IPA's I've ever had. Smooooooth and citrusy. YUM. Try it....fresh
