"I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center."

"What kind of beer is this?" asks my girlfriend.
I read the bottle description to her:
From the deep dark recesses of our minds emerges this Imperial Black Saison. A beer shrouded in mystery and depth of flavor. A night you will never forget.
"Oh, Black Saison? I probably won't like it, but I'll try it," she responds, followed almost immediately with a cry of "Oh! Damn, this is gooooood!"
I crack a slight smile. "Yeah, it's from Gigantic..."

The City Never Sleeps pours a deep, dark black with a fair amount of fizzy tan head. Smells of cocoa and vanilla, nothing like a saison.
Taste follows aroma -- light chocolate notes, a touch of vanilla, and some (very) subtle saison "funk" hiding in the back. Surprisingly smooth for the amount of carbonation present. Roasty, with a dry, slightly caramely finish. Deeeee-licious!
